Betsy Mendel (formerly Williams) is a music educator and arts administrator who lives and teaches in the NKY/Greater Cincinnati area. The youest of six children, she grew up in a homeschool family where she fell in love with books, lmusic, the outdoors, and teaching children! Mrs. Mendel holds a MM in Music Education from Bowling Green State University, and a BM in Music Education (Summa Cum Laude) from Northern Kentucky University. She is currently the Director and a Master Teacher in, the String Project program at Northern Kentucky University, as well as the Early Childhood Music and Movement program coordinator; she also maintains a private lesson studio of violin, viola, and cello students. At Concordia Classical Academy, Mrs. Mendel teaches general music classes that are specifically tailored to each age group of students. Her goal is to develop and nurture the musical ability of each student, as well as strengthen their reading, linguistic, and memory/comprehension skills through music and movement activities. In one of Mrs. Mendel’s music classes, students might play bucket drums, learn a complicated stick game, master a movement sequence, folk dance, sing, work on music literacy skills with a hands-on manipulatives, or listen and respond to recorded music. Whatever the activity, the goal is to encourage them to glorify God through their creation, interaction, and response to music!
